Dear
Parents / Carers
Some
information about the next half term…
We are learning about…
Next
half term our topic will be ‘SPACE’.
We will be learning about:
-
Planets, the solar system and aliens. In Art
we will be using pastels, marbling and chalk in order to create constellations
and planets in 2D and will be using different media to create 3D
sculptures.
-
Key events in space explorations, including a look at the space race and
associated famous astronauts.
-
Space travel – including making rockets, shuttles and satellites as part of our
learning in DT.
-
The life of an astronaut - including eating and exercising and learning about
why an astronaut wears a spacesuit. In Science
we will also be carrying out scientific investigations in order to find the
most suitable materials for an astronaut to wear in space.
-
The moon - involving a look at the first moon landing and carrying out
scientific investigations into the strength of ‘moon rock’ from different
planets.
-
In Literacy we will be exploring our
theme through stories such as Red Rockets and Rainbow Jelly, Aliens Love
Underpants and Aliens in Underpants Save the World, Whatever Next?, Q Pootle 5,
We’re off to look for aliens, The aliens are coming, But Martin! and Beegu. If
