At James Peacock Infant and Nursery School the reception year builds on the learning and experiences that your child/children will have already experienced at pre-school and at home.
We have a very experienced staff team, all of whom have as much fun learning every day as the children! As a staff we believe that children learn best when they are interested and engaged in activities, so our curriculum is adapted throughout the year to follow the interests of our children.
Our Curriculum All Foundation classes follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) Framework 2021, which is delivered through 7 areas of learning:
Communication and Language
Physical Development
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts & Design
Detailed curriculum maps are shared with parents via Dojo at the start of each new topic.
Each area of learning has Early Learning Goals (17 in total), which are the standards that a child is expected to achieve by the end of the Foundation Stage. These are reported to the Local Authority in June and are shared with parents and the Year 1 team in July.
Please see below the reception handbook for 2024-2025, which will give parents all of the information you should need for the academic year.
Your allocated class teacher is your first point of contact for all teaching and learning and the office team are happy to help with any additional inquiries.
