At James Peacock Infant and Nursery School we use Class Dojo to connect with parents and share achievements and upload photos and videos of all of the wonderful things that take place in school.
Behaviour We believe in a holistic approach; pupil-centered and inclusive based on positive relationships. We are committed to creating an environment where exemplary behaviour is at the heart of productive learning. Everyone is expected to maintain the highest standards of personal conduct, to accept responsibility for their behaviour and encourage others to do the same. As members of our community, we follow our PROUD values.
Rewards The use of rewards can be effective for motivating most pupils with an aim on focusing positive rewards for positive behaviour rather than punishing inappropriate behaviour. Behaviour that leads to a reward is more likely to be repeated. Our goal is for our children to be intrinsically motivated whereby they are engaged in a behaviour because it is personally rewarding; essentially, performing an activity for its own sake rather than the desire for some external reward.
Individual We currently use the Class Dojo reward system to encourage positive behaviour in school. Children can earn Dojo points by demonstrating one of our school values- Proud, Respect, Opportunities, United and Determined, through actions such as helping others, working hard, being kind to others and making good progress during lessons. We celebrate dojo points in classrooms and with parents and carers too. Parents and carers can view their child's achievements through a home login account. There are incentives for the children to earn as many points as possible. Dojo points are collected throughout the year and children receive a certificate based on their individual scores. Certificates will be presented to children reaching 25, 50, 75 and 100 milestones.
Working Together
At the beginning of the school year the children will decide on which class treats they would like. The children will put forward ideas for treats then as a class they will vote and the treats with the most votes would be recorded on a class chart. When milestones are met the children would then vote for which treat they got next. When classes reach a collective amount, they will be allowed to choose a memorable experience which will be decided on a class basis. These include days such as; a class coming in pjs, having an extra time slot using the playground equipment etc.
Parents Any parent can connect with their child’s class story and view their child’s reward points. Just ask us to send you an invite to your email address or print you a connection code.
Proud assembly As well as our class dojo system we also celebrate children in our weekly Proud assembly. This is an opportunity for the teachers to really celebrate children who are demonstrating commitment towards the value focus for the half term. They will be rewarded with an opportunity to sit in the Proud chair and a certificate to share with their parents and carers. The focus of Proud assembly changes each half term linking to our school values.
Half termly Learning champion assembly Half termly we also have a special Learning champions assembly in which we will celebrate a learning champion and behaviour and attitudes champion from each class. Parents and carers will be invited to this celebration and have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments with their children and Mrs Cutts.
