At James Peacock Infant School we recognise the importance of fostering scientists of the future. We want to encourage our pupils to develop a life-long curiosity of the world around them.
Through our carefully developed science curriculum, children have the opportunity to take part in scientific investigations, problem solving activities, local trips, real life experiences from local organisations and celebratory events e.g. Science week. This has enabled the children to relate classroom based experience with science in real life, as well as in the world around them.
With a forest school on-site and strong links with Rushcliffe Country Park, all children from Nursery (F1) to Year 2 have weekly opportunities to take their scientific learning outdoors with practical applications.
At James Peacock feel so strongly about Science that we are completing the prestigious PSQM award (Primary Science Quality Mark), making sure our curriculum, teaching and experiences are the very best for the children of James Peacock Infant school, we aim to stimulate a love of Science in all our pupils.
Our children are taught through the use of our PROUD values to understand the possibilities science has to all, to understand the value of respecting the world around us. To have the opportunity to access a broad, challenging curriculum, which is unique by being diverse and inclusive and where determination is encouraged through exploration, discussion, questioning and investigation to gain a deeper understanding of the world around us.
