Our Mission

We firmly believe that the provision of high quality early years education is essentially a partnership between parents, teachers and governors, and that the contribution of each element of that partnership is crucial. Children are entitled to a stimulating, broad and well balanced education which builds positively on their personal strengths, individual potential and personal learning style. We aim to develop children’s basic skills through good teaching, an activity based curriculum and the provision of first hand, relevant experiences. We want children to become aware of the contribution of values and attitudes to their learning, and believe that the quality of relationships is fundamental to the school’s ethos and the children’s achievements.

Parents should be fully involved in the education of their children, and given the opportunity to participate in school life in whatever way they feel able. They should have frequent communication with and ease of access to all members of staff, and be encouraged to discuss matters of concern or significance at any time. The school sees its role in informing parents about the school’s curriculum as essential if the partnership is to grow in understanding and mutual support.
All members of staff are entitled to feel that they are valued and valuable members of a team and that they have valid contributions to make to discussions about policy and practice in the school. They should feel supported by their colleagues, by senior management and by governors, both professionally and personally and be given regular opportunities to review and develop their own continuing professional development. They should feel that a proper work/life balance is part of the structure of the school, and that the school supports them in achieving this.

The governors of James Peacock are fully involved in the life of the school at all levels; philosophically, strategically and in support of the school’s day to day life. They are entitled to the proper support and training to enable them to fulfil the considerable responsibilities of their role.
At James Peacock we are committed to the establishment and maintenance of a successful, happy, calm but vibrant school community, with high standards of work and behaviour, and in which each member feels they have a valuable part to play.
